Neuron Trainer ("we," "our") builds iOS study applications and operates neurontrainer.com. This policy describes what we collect and how we use it, for both our apps and this website.
The short version
- Our apps don't require an account. No name, email, or password.
- Your study progress is stored on your device.
- AI tutor messages, submitted images, and replies are processed and stored by OpenAI. We may review these logs to support and improve the tutor.
- We don't sell personal data. Ever.
- Purchases are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
What our apps collect
Stored on your device
Study progress, quiz history, readiness scores, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Analytics
We use Amplitude to understand app usage, such as features used, study activity, session length, and device type. Analytics may be associated with an app or device identifier, so they are pseudonymous rather than necessarily anonymous. We do not require a name or email address to use the apps. Our backend also records operational events such as request counts and errors through Vercel.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate entitlements and restore access. Purchase records include transaction and app-user identifiers, purchased products, and subscription status; they are not necessarily anonymous. We never receive your payment card details.
AI tutor and conversation logs
When you use an AI feature, your messages, the conversation history and study context included in the request, and any images you choose to submit are sent through our backend hosted by Vercel to OpenAI to generate a reply. This can include the question, answer choices, and explanation you are studying. Anything personal you put in a message or image is included in that submission.
We enable storage of these requests and generated replies in OpenAI's API logs. Authorized Neuron Trainer personnel may review them to troubleshoot problems, provide support, evaluate answer quality, improve the tutor, and investigate misuse. Tutor conversations are not used to build an advertising profile and are not sold or shared for advertising.
OpenAI documents a standard retention period of at least 30 days for stored API responses, subject to its data controls and applicable legal or safety requirements. OpenAI may also retain separate abuse-monitoring logs. Enabling request storage does not itself opt API data into model training; OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. Our backend also processes app identifiers, device identifiers, and IP addresses for authentication, rate limiting, and security. Rate-limit keys hash client identifiers. These operational records are separate from the conversation content stored by OpenAI.
AI features are optional. Do not submit passwords, payment details, identifiable patient information, or other sensitive information about yourself or anyone else. Deleting a conversation on your device or uninstalling the app does not delete copies already retained by our service providers.
What this website collects
This website is a static site. App information, ratings, and reviews shown here are fetched directly from Apple's public iTunes API by your browser. We may use privacy-respecting hosting analytics (such as aggregate page-view counts) provided by our hosting platform. The site does not use advertising trackers and does not set marketing cookies.
Children's privacy
Our apps are intended for users preparing for professional and academic exams and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate the apps (analytics, purchase validation, AI processing, and Apple), each under their own data protection obligations. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your choices
- Choose whether to use AI: you can use the other study features without submitting messages or images to the AI tutor.
- Delete local data: deleting an app removes locally stored progress. It does not automatically delete AI logs, analytics, or purchase records held by service providers.
- Questions or deletion requests: email qtechdev1@gmail.com with the app name and approximate date and time of the interaction. We will help identify relevant records and handle applicable deletion requests, subject to provider capabilities and legal or security retention requirements. Because the apps do not require an account, we may need additional information to locate a particular record; do not send sensitive content unnecessarily.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes to app data practices are also reflected in each app's App Store privacy label.
